A: Every day students need to be dropped off in the south parking lot. All students will wait in the outside play area before school each day. Please do not drop kids off in unsupervised areas! (See Handbook)

A: There will be MANY of us around to help kids find their way on the first day – don’t worry!

A: All students will get their schedules and books on the first day of school. The $120 book deposit and $5 lock deposit for their books and locks should be paid in advance, but parents can pay in Secretary’s office on the first day, if necessary.

A: The first two weeks of school there will be no structured after school programs. Teachers and coaches will be asking students about interest in their programs. Schedules for after school programs will develop and information will be given to students during the third week of school. Some teachers may want to assess student interest in programs.

A: Tutoring sessions, offered throughout the year, need to be arranged with teachers by individual students and their parents. SSA tutoring sessions are designed for students who have particular questions about subject matter in a class; students should come to tutoring prepared to ask questions and seek answers to specific problems areas.

A: The SSA Student Policy Handbook is on our website; we will go through the Handbook with students on the first day of school. Students must return the last page with their signature and their parents’ signature, indicating agreement to the policies of SSA. The dress code and many other important issues are in the Handbook; please read!

A: Charter schools are state-funded, public schools, available to all students tuition-free. They are created to provide new educational choices for parents and students.
At SSA our focus is to provide students with the opportunity for serious academic study in all areas of the curriculum; math, history, physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, literature, reading, grammar, writing, computer science, art, music, drama, physical education, and health. Our after school programs are designed for all students to further develop areas of interest, especially in science, math, athletics, and music.
