We are proud to announce that our school got 2^nd  place in the American Math Challenge, which was held on 12-13^th October 21, 2011 with the participation of 1,431 American schools and 71,971 American students. Thus, we have won a visit and presentation by Scott Flansburg, Guinness World Record Holder for “Fastest Human Calculator”! 

Five students from our school had their names written in the top 100 students. Congratulations to Garrett S. (23^rd place), Murat A. (35^th place), Lane J. (78^th place), Adrian S. (83^rd place) and Uriel S. (96^th place). We also congratulate Logan J., Eylah M., Jamal A., Monique F., Mariel A., Lesslie F., Marilyn V., Duy N., Samira S., Braian G., Barysh A., Loren J., Samantha A., Mona S., Murat C., Brandon K., Nasra A., Safia A., Tofik S., Fatima S., Mukhamad T., Fowsiyo A., Ridvan M., Kurt K., Ferah H. and Jonah R. for their great work.

Every year the first Sunday after the Labor Day is celebrated as National Grandparents Day in the USA . The purpose of this day is to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show their love for their grandchildren and to help children learn how invaluable the guidance of older people can be.

To celebrate the National Grandparents Day and wish the elderly a Happy Grandparents Day we visited the residents of Highland Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center with our 7th graders.  Our students gave the cards that they themselves made and the gifts that they brought to the elderly. They talked with the residents of the House and got some advice from them. Both sides were happy to meet each other. We took pictures and promised them that we will go back to visit and give them the pictures, because we think that grandparents day should not be limited to one day and we should try to visit them as often as we can to show them that we care about them every day of the year.
