To achieve these ends, SSA creates a physically, socially and psychologically safe environment where learning and personal development can occur for every student.  We have strict behavioral expectations, character education assemblies, small class sizes, and systematic consequences for misbehavior.  We have structured our curriculum in an individualized and flexible manner enabling us to adapt to differing students needs. Students who excel in our specialty areas of mathematics, science, and technology can easily move in and out of honors and accelerated courses so that they may be challenged throughout the year. Conversely, for students that require more support, we provide tutoring for every subject matter and an individualized teacher attention.  SSA employs teachers that are devoted to their profession and participate in extracurricular activities, such as mentoring, tutoring, sports activities and supervision of clubs and academic teams.

The curriculum is designed to give students a foundation of learning and thought processes needed to achieve a higher level of understanding and the basis for independent thought processes. We believe that a strong liberal arts foundation is essential to producing a 'smart scientist'.  Today's professionals must be well-rounded and well-versed in all fields as well as math ,science and computer technology.  The curriculum includes Fine Arts, Physical Education, History, Language Arts, with a particular focus on Math, Science and Technology.  Our curriculum is challenging and has consistently resulted in above average standardized test scores for the majority of our students.  We employ honors courses and concurrent enrollment with Pima Community College to allow our students to work at their highest potential.
