Dear Parents,

Happy Holidays! Did everyone have a relaxing Thanks-giving Holiday? The end of the 1st semester is quickly approaching and in a blink of an eye winter break will be upon us. Middle school students are now preparing for final semester exams. Also, as your child is preparing for the exams, go over the promotion policy with your child that is included in the newsletter. It is important that every student takes these exams seriously as the exams can have a tremendous impact on their grades. An exam schedule is included with the newsletter.

Also there is a paperless form in this newsletter. As a parent you would be agreeing to get the newsletter only by email or via our website. This would allow the school to spend less on stamps and printing and more on student activities. I hope you will consider this option.

Extracurricular activities are a wonderful way to build a sense of community here at school. The best way to support extracurricular activities at SSA-Broadway is with your Tax Credit donations. Remember that extracurricular activities also help to improve overall academic performance. Please look for more information concerning Tax Credits in this newsletter.

It is so important for the success of our students and their education that students come to school on time and prepared for learning. When a student arrives late, it is disruptive to the entire class. Arriving on time and entering the classroom as a group promotes teamwork and self-confidence. Arriving late causes the opposite effect. Most of us must drive, and some from very long distances. If your family has been tardy and particularly if it has been a repeated occurrence, please leave 10 minutes earlier for your daily routine.

It is time to reenroll your children for the next school year. A re-enrollment form is included in this newsletter. Please take the time to fill out the form and return it to the front office. In order to reserve your child’s spot for the 2009-2010 school year this form must be turned in by January 12th, 2009. We will begin accepting new enrollments at that time.

Sonoran Science Academy schools have decided to have school uniforms next school year (2009-2010). More information will be sent out later regarding this. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 751-2401 ext. 11 or via e-mail.

Most parents have been receiving e-mails from me informing them of things happening here at SSA-Broadway. If you are not receiving the e-mails, please let Mrs. Thandi in the office, know, and she will update your email information.
