Sonoran Science Academy - Broadway (SSA - BROADWAY) is a tuition-free public charter school in Arizona. SSA - BROADWAY is a college preparatory school that emphasizes on science, math, and computer science, while providing solid liberal arts foundation for the students.
In 2000, local scientists, educators and community leaders saw a need in Tucson for a school that focuses on math, science and computer science. Within 8 years of successful opening, SSA-Tucson's model of educational excellence showed proven results and outstanding contributions to the public education. SSA-Tucson quickly became one of the top charter schools in Tucson and was recognized by many for its achievements. Recognizing the demand for the high quality education in the east side of the town, the board decided to replicate its proven-model of educational excellence. In August 2008, SSA-Broadway opened its doors to more than 200 hundred students to begin the 2008-2009 school year.
SSA - BROADWAY offers free tutoring to students in all subjects and encourages all students to participate in extracurricular academic clubs, athletic teams and social booster clubs. SSA - BROADWAY believes that fostering children with a well-rounded social background and rigorous academics is a necessary part of college preparation. It is this unique balance between rigorous academics and extracurricular participation that becomes each child's formula for success in life and prepares students for the rigors of University.
It is the conviction of SSA - BROADWAY that the educational process can only be successful if the essential underlying triad of Student-Teacher-Parent works in harmony. SSA - BROADWAY is not just a school but also rather a learning environment. All parents are welcomed on campus and encouraged to find a place to make their own personal contribution. Although this is by no means a requirement, SSA - BROADWAY faculty and students enjoy the many individual contributions parents share and thus enrich our campus. Many parents, as well as faculty, assist with the academic and social booster clubs while other parents find their own unique niche to enrich the lives of our student body.
SSA-Broadway was established as a non-profit educational organization and received its Charter School Application approval by the Arizona State Board of Education in May of 2008. In SSA-Broadway, dedicated faculty and staff ensure that all students are accorded the individual attention and motivation needed to be successful.
