Science in the School Day
Mayor Bob Walkup honored our school by participating “Science in the School Day”. All 4th and 5th graders prepared their cars by using paper, paper clips, 4 life savers and 3 straws. Also Mayor Bob Walkup did his own car. All of us had lots of fun and see future engineer’s wonderful car designs. As of January 2010, 140 mayors across the country have participated. *Science in the School Day* is an effortless way for a mayor to open up a new world of possibilities for students and possibly influence more kids to choose to explore fields in math and science. Mr.Emrah handed a plaque to Mr.Walkup for the memory of the day. Thank you to Mayor Bob Walkup for choosing our school for this special event.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
In light of recent events regarding the H1N1 Influenza Flu, we are encouraging parents to speak to their children about proper hygiene and tell them to wash their hands frequently and if they cough to cover their mouths with a tissue. If you don't have a tissue, cover your mouth with the crook of your elbow rather than your hand. But if you do use your hands when coughing or sneezing, wash them as soon as possible afterwards. According to the CDC, H1N1 Influenza Flu symptoms are similar to those of the common human influenza (flu) virus – fever, cough, sore throat, headache, etc. Washing your hands often with soap and water or utilizing hand sanitizers is helpful in preventing the spread of these types of illnesses. We are suggesting to parents that they send their child to school with disinfectant hand wipes that the child can use on their desks in the classroom when they enter and leave the classroom.
If your child shows any flu symptoms, it would be best to have them stay at home until they are feeling better.
